Famous entertainer of bygone eras Anjana Bhowmick kicked the bucket in Kolkata on Saturday, family sources said. She was 79. Anjana who had been ailing for quite a while kicked the bucket at a confidential emergency clinic around 10:30 am, they said.
She was owned up to the emergency clinic because of respiratory issues on February 16. She had been laid up because of geriatric issues lately. She is made due by girls Nilanjana Sengupta and Chandana Bhowmick.
A famous entertainer from the '60s-80s period, Anjana had procured crowd praise in works of art like 'Kakhono Megh' (Cloud after daylight), 'Thana Theke Aschhi' (Coming from police headquarters), 'Nayika Sangbad' (Story of a champion), 'Chowringhee', 'Pratham Basanta' (First spring) among others.
She was brought into the world in Cooch Behar and moved to Kolkata during graduation. Having ventured into the film world at 20 years old, Anjana was seen in the film 'Anustup Chhanda' in 1964 and came to be known as Anjana from her unique name Arati. The following year with 'Thana Theke Aschhi' she was slung into the class of huge names in the Bengali entertainment world.
