Ward Games gold medallist Aaron Door has won his very first public street race title in Timaru this evening.
The 33-year-old pipped Areas of strength for corbin Laurence Pithie in a wet run finish. Door said that it took a great deal of strategies to win the "very difficult" race. "The one race in NZ I've always lost, so stirred up to tick that off. I shared with the youthful folks you have a couple of additional years and gratitude for allowing the old charlatan to get it today."
It was a stacked first class men's field in Timaru, with Door going head to head against World Visit riders, Visit de France riders, and rising youthful ability. Individual Federation Games gold medallist Tom Sexton didn't come to the completion after a bolt dropped out of his bicycle.
The present triumph proceeds with a triumphant run for Door, who won the NZ Cycle Exemplary last month and Madison win in the UCI Countries Cup the week before. The First class Street Public Titles is New Zealand's chief street cycling occasion. Riders needed to finish eight laps of the back blocks of Timaru — totalling 196km. Door will arrange at the Oceania Track Winners in Cambridge one week from now.
