Fariha Jaman : From Fashion Student to Rising Bangladeshi Brand Promoter - ISN

Dhaka, Bangladesh:

Fariha Jaman, a young creative professional from Rangpur, is carving out a space for herself in Bangladesh’s competitive brand promotion industry, defying expectations from a family rooted in the medical profession.

Although most members of her family are doctors, Jaman’s passion for fashion began at an early age. After completing her studies at Cantonment Public School and College, she chose to pursue her creative ambitions and is currently studying Fashion Design at Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology.

Her initial dream was to establish her own fashion house. However, while still in university, she unexpectedly stepped into the world of brand promotion. Her journey began with a photoshoot for a friend’s family-owned fashion house. The images received strong public attention, leading to her first formal engagement with the brand.

What seemed like a smooth start soon revealed the competitive nature of the industry. Entering at a young age meant competing with experienced and established professionals. Instead of resorting to negative publicity, Jaman chose to focus on presenting herself positively and building credibility through consistency.

According to her, the primary responsibility of a brand promoter is to communicate a brand’s message accurately while building trust with audiences. “Content must be engaging, but it must also remain authentic,” she says. Her first major campaign brought a mix of excitement and anxiety, but the positive response afterward significantly boosted her confidence.

Social media has become her primary professional platform, enabling direct engagement with audiences, trend analysis, and community building. When selecting brands to collaborate with, she prioritizes credibility, product quality, and alignment with her personal values.

Jaman also acknowledges facing challenges as a woman in the industry, including occasional underestimation and unwanted remarks. She says she has addressed these obstacles with confidence and professionalism. Constructive criticism, she notes, is an opportunity for growth, while unnecessary negativity is best ignored.

Reflecting on her journey, she identifies consistency and integrity as her most important lessons. “Success does not come through shortcuts. Time and patience are the real keys,” she says.

Looking ahead, Jaman aspires to evolve beyond brand promotion into an established brand consultant, with ambitions to work at an international level. She also plans to launch her own brand or entrepreneurial venture that reflects her personality and vision.

For newcomers interested in the profession, her advice is clear: develop skills first, stay consistent, remain aware of trends, but never lose individuality. With patience and dedication, she believes, success will eventually follow.
